We are excited to announce the public availability of two new capabilities for the AWS Mainframe Modernization File Transfer with BMC feature. Users can now copy data sets in binary format without any conversion. This provides compatibility with modernization tools that require data sets to be processed in their raw mainframe format. It can be used as part of refactoring, replatforming, or augmentation toolchains. We have also introduced performance enhancements that reduce the file transfer task start-up time, enabling users to see data transfers begin in a matter of seconds and allowing for the swift execution of multiple transfer tasks. These new capabilities provide customers with greater flexibility and efficiency when transferring mainframe data to the cloud using the AWS Mainframe Modernization service.
AWS Mainframe Modernization File Transfer enables customers to seamlessly discover, copy, and convert mainframe data sets to Amazon S3 for a variety of use cases including mainframe application migration and modernization, and mainframe data driven augmentation using AWS. Using advanced compression, conversion of source mainframe encodings, and automation, mainframe data sets can be transferred to Amazon S3 storage. Once the mainframe data is on AWS, it can be harnessed for application modernization, analytics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence enabling agility, cost savings, and drive innovation.
The AWS Mainframe Modernization File Transfer is available through the AWS Mainframe Modernization service console. For more information, visit the AWS Mainframe Modernization service product and documentation webpages.
