Enterprise storage vendor StorONE has partnered with Phison Electronics, a developer of NAND flash technologies, to create ONEai, a turnkey, automated AI package for enterprise data storage that accelerates AI deployment and delivers domain-specific responses for end users.
ONEai uses Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ AI capabilities in the StorONE enterprise storage systems. aiDAPTIV+ is a hybrid hardware‑software AI offering that extends GPU memory capacity by using high-endurance NAND flash SSDs, enabling on‑premises training and inference of large language models (LLMs).
Inference and training is often challenging because of the limitations of GPU memory. The fix has been to throw GPUs at the problem, which provides more memory but also gets expensive. With ONEai, NAND flash SSDs provide the memory needed rather than a lot of expensive, underutilized GPUs.
Thanks to the GPU integration, ONEai eliminates the need for a separate AI stack or external orchestration and cloud-based workflows. It offers full on-premises processing for complete data sovereignty and control over sensitive data.
ONEai automatically recognizes and responds to file creation, modification and deletion, offering real-time insights into data stored in the system. ONEai is optimized for AI functions like LLM fine-tuning, RAG, and inferencing. Operations are managed through a simple data management GUI.
“Through the aiDAPTIV+ integration, ONEai connects the storage engine and the AI acceleration layer, ensuring optimal data flow, intelligent workload orchestration and highly efficient GPU utilization. The result is an alternative to the DIY approach for IT and infrastructure teams, who can now opt for a pre-integrated, seamless, secure and efficient AI deployment within the enterprise infrastructure,” said Michael Wu, general manager and president of Phison U.S. in a statement.
ONEai will be generally available in Q3 2025.
