Technology companies added 18,795 workers in April, the largest total since last August, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers and industry analysis of that data.
The data showed a mixed bag of results for technology workers.
Tech occupations throughout the economy declined by 99,000 positions, last month. At the same time, employer job postings for tech positions surpassed 300,000 in April, a level last reached in October 2022, according to a report from CompTIA a nonprofit association for the IT industry and workforce.
Both the overall US unemployment rate, at 3.4%, and the number of unemployed at 5.7 million, changed little in April, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics Data released today. The unemployment rate has ranged from 3.4% to 3.7% since March 2022.
